Credit Cards that offer Rewards
Some credit cards offer rewards, incentives, and other perks to customers in exchange for their use of the cards. Depending upon the card company, certain rebates, cash incentives, travel rate reductions, expensive gifts, and more might be dangled in front of the potential cardholder in order to tempt them into accepting the card. Some of the offers are good ones but some are not worth the interest rate you pay for the card. These “reward” cards should be compared very carefully to determine if they are actually worth the rewards they offer.
Reward credit cards can be very profitable for some credit cardholders, especially ones who use their cards frequently. Be advised, however, that most of these cards impose annual fees. You should carefully consider all of the added fees before deciding to accept a reward card. If you are someone who charges large amounts on a frequent basis to your card, then the rewards might be beneficial to you. You will have to sit down and carefully figure out whether or not the reward card would benefit you in the long run, taking into consideration the fees you would have to pay, the interest rate, and what the value of the rewards to you would be.
Many low rate credit cards in Australia require that you pay your entire balance with each monthly bill. If not, then you will not receive the reward benefits that come with using the card. If you build up a balance on a reward card, then you may end up paying much more in interest than you get back in reward benefits.
Different types of reward credit cards offer various benefits. Some will give you frequent flyer miles, free gasoline for your automobile, coupons good for valuable merchandise, or large discounts on your next automobile purchase. Other types of cards include cash back cards or cards that offer discounts on various items. You should take care to go with a card that offers the type of rewards you would put to good use. If not, it probably would not benefit you to get the card.
